Hello! Blog World!

Hmmmm....where to start? I am new to this whole blog thing but I thought  I would give it a try! I absolutely LOVE teaching and I thought why not write a blog about my experiences?

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Amanda Peiffer and I am a Kindergarten teacher. I have always wanted to be a teacher, it seems to run in the family! I never knew I wanted to be a Kindergarten teacher until that is where I ended up! I used to say in college that I didn't want to teach kids that were taller than me (I'm only 5'2") and I didn't want the baby Kindergarteners. Boy was I wrong, Kindergarten is absolutely where I am meant to be and I may start acting like one if you try and move me to a different grade (LOL).

My first teaching job was in the York City School District and my principal just seemed to know that I was meant for Kindergarten. I was part of a great team and learned a lot. My heart belongs to the city but unfortunately due to the economy and budget cuts I was furloughed after two amazing years. I spent an entire summer applying for jobs and two weeks before school started I moved from York to State College. I am now teaching at Young Scholars of Central Pennsylvania Charter School. I was never quite sure about charter schools but this one is great fit for me. In Kindergarten my students are learning Chinese and Spanish everyday (they have to teach me! that's how good they are!)

Now I am heading into my 4th year of teaching and I have spent the summer working with my amazing partner in crime Crystal to get ready for the school year. We have revamped the curriculum are diving into some new things and redecorating. That is where the blog comes in. I thought I would share my process as I tackle new challenges such as using the Daily 5, starting math stations and math journals and making my room soooo owl themed you feel like you are walking into a forest! :) Hopefully I stick with this and share all my ideas and maybe get some from you too! PS I am addicted to pintrest and TeacherspayTeachers!

I hope your day is abfab (absolutely fabulous)!
